Put simply, there are three major components in providing natural gas to you home:

1. Production of natural gas – The actual natural gas supply
2. Transportation or Transmission – The large interstate pipelines that carry natural gas to your utility
3. Delivery or Distribution – The utility’s pipelines that deliver natural gas to your home or business.

In Ohio, customers are free to choose who supplies the generation and transmission portions of their natural gas supply service. They can purchase these services from a Competitive Retail Natural Gas Service (CRNGS) provider such as AEP Energy.
